How long has Dunwoody Press been in existence?

We began publishing in the early 1980's as a subsidiary of MRM, Inc. In December 1999, we were acquired by McNeil Technologies, Inc.

As a company, what is your mission?

We want to help bridge communication gaps, foster communications between the nations of the world, preserve the less-commonly-taught languages, and finally, create written materials for those languages known only through the spoken word.

In what languages do you publish?

We publish in more than 55 languages and dialects, with more continually being added. We specialize in the less-commonly-taught languages of the world and are often the only source of written materials in those languages.

What kind of materials do you publish?

We produce bilingual dictionaries, grammar guides, textbooks, glossaries, readers, handbooks of common expressions and cassette tapes. Our customers often appreciate that they can get a variety of materials in a particular language. For example, many customers will buy readers complemented by cassette tapes.

How do you decide what languages to include in your repertoire?

There are a variety of ways that we "adopt" a language. Sometimes it's because we know there is a need for materials in a particular language. Other times we are approached by an author who has done a great deal of research in a language and is prepared to create written materials.

Who uses your language materials?

Our reference materials are used by professional linguists, language students, universities and research libraries, the United States federal government, multi-national companies, and individuals who have a particular interest in a specific language.

Do you accept manuscripts for publication?

We will consider work from outside sources. We recommend that you send a query letter that briefly summarizes your project.

How long does it take to ship my order?

Orders that were made between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. EST Monday-Friday except holidays are generally ship within 24 hours after they were electronically submitted to us.
