This glossary was compiled in the hope that it will assist translators working with Chinese materials in the IT fields. It is presented in three ways: Chinese to English, approximately 30,000 terms alphabetized by pinyin Romanization with tone marks; alphabetized English to Chinese, approximately 30,000 terms; and alphabetized by English abbreviation, approximately 12,500 terms. While this is primarily a telecommunications glossary, it is perhaps better described as a glossary of Information Technology because of the convergence of computer technology and telecommunications.The glossary thus encompass terms used in computer hardware and software, digital and optical telecommunications, wireless and mobile telecommunications, cable television, fiber optic cable technology, and antenna theory, among others.
