Telugu is a Dravidian language primarily spoken in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the official language of this state and is widely used in education, mass media, and administration.The reader is divided into three sections: selections, translations, and glossary. The first section contains 50 selected pieces and is followed by a list of vocabulary in the order of their occurence in the text and their meanings in the particular context of the text. Brief grammatical and cultural notes follow the vocabulary list. The second section gives English translations of the Telugu text. The third section presents the Telugu-English glossary. The selections for this reader were taken from the four leading Telugu daily newspapers viz, Andhra Prabha, Eenaadu, Vartha, and Andhra Jyothi published in Andhra Pradesh.
