This book is intended for students of Dari language who are familiar with written Dari and any elementary-level textbook.
The first section of this book is a brief outline of spoken Dari and a summary with examples of grammatical and systematic differences between spoken and written Dari.
47 selections in the second section covers variety of topics including politics, social, economics, education, and culture. The selections are transcribed from audio recordings that were made by native Dari speakers from the different regions of Afghanistan. The transcriptions written in the Arabic script preserve starts, stops, and slips of the tongue that occur in spontaneous speech. Each transcription is followed by an English translation, Vocabulary, and useful notes.
The last part of this book is the Glossary section, which consists of the Dari colloquial and slang words.
