This general-language dictionary of more than 18,600 entries and some 9,000 cross-references is intended for English speakers who are translating written Georgian texts. The dictionary is based primarily on a one million-word corpus drawn largely from contemporary Georgian newspapers, but it includes also some fables and short stories by Georgian writers. A distinctive feature of the dictionary is its treatment of the complex Georgian verb system. Inflected forms of verbs are listed alphabetically as separate entries and cross-referenced to the verbal roots.
