This reader is intended for a student of the Burmese language who has mastered the alphabet primer and wishes to pursue a course leading to an appreciation of Burmese literature by starting with journalistic literature on a variety of subjects. Fifty-two selections are included from two Burmese dailies in Yangon (Rangoon), the New Light of Myanmar and the Mirror issued during May to October 1995.
